
BHUTAN,
known as
"The Land of thunder Dragon"
is situated between India & Tibet and for centuries forbidden
to westerners. Bhutan has preserved it's timeless traditions
and ancestral way of life. Apart from the rich cultural heritage,
it is a land of soaring scenery of paramount peaks. Sacred
mountains often unnamed and unclimbed, soar above tropical
forest and richly cultivated valley. Ancient legends are preserved
in spectacular cliff-side monasteries and colorful festivals
echo the unwavering Buddhist beliefs of the local people.
The total area of Bhutan is approx. 47,000 sq km and the population
is little over 600,000.
The Climate: The southern belt is hot and humid. Rest of country
pleasant alpine climate.
Season: March to June and September to November.
Temp: Max 29 to Min –5 degree Celsius
Access: As per present flight schedule there
are 3 flights a week Paro/Katmandu/ Paro Monday, Thursday
and Sunday and is an hour flight one-way.
Accommodation: Hotels and lodges are limited in Bhutan,
and vary in quality and standards. There are best hotels in
Thimpu, Paro Phuenthsoling, Punakha but in central and eastern
Bhutan they have moderate standard with attached bath.
