The
northern region of Nepal is high Himalaya where as the southern
Terai (plains) are covered with dense tropical jungle teeming
with fascinating wildlife and exotic birds. Here you will
find some of the most exciting safari destination in the
world. Among the 14 national parks and wildlife reserves
in Nepal, the Royal Chitwan National Park
(932 sq km) to the southwest of Kathmandu (only 165 km by
overland) and Bharatpur airport adjoing the park is a mere
25 minute flight away. Other renowned safari venues are
the Royal Bardia National Park (968 sq
km) in the far west and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve
(175 sq km) in the east..
In the tropical jungle of Terai one can find the endangered
one-horned rhinoceros, the Royal Bengal tiger,four-horned
antelope, four species of deers, striped hyena,leopards,
jungle cats,red panda, sloth bear,wild boar, bison, Asiatic
elephant, crocodiles , the Gangetic dolphin are the main
attractions here. About hundred of species of wild animals
that make their home here. The Kingdom also contains over
800 species of colourful birds or about 8% of world population
All the jungle activities are provided more or less the
same in all those parks and wildlife reserve. Here you will
be going into deep jungle on elephant back or four wheel
drive vehicle to view the wild animals in their natural
habitat. Other thrills are canoe rides on the jungle river,
nature walk, bird watching excursions, elephant bathing
in the river, Tharu cultural village tour, visit to Elephant
Breeding Centre, Gharial Breeding & Conservation Centre,
etc.
There are luxury resorts/lodges and also accommodations
in deluxe safari tents in the jungle and they are conveniently
reached by plane or road connection. Evening slide show
in the hotel/resort or Tharu cultural dance show or a night
with the stars, warmed by the glow of the open bonfires
and food and drink to satiate both the body and soul.

grassland and forest upstream of
the Narayani or Rapti rivers. Board boats to observe
the wild life whilst floating back to
camp.

Observation Tower / Nature Walk with Boat
