For
the ultimate adrenaline rush,there is nothing like riding
the waves of Nepal's Himalayan rivers. The water courses
here consist of glacial melt that cascade down the mountain
slopes on their way to the on their way to the south to
sea. A rafting trip on one of these thundering rivers means
an action-packed cruise over foaming white water and crashing
waves.
Nepal has earned a reputation as one of the best destinations
in the world for white water rafting. There are numerous
fine rivers in Nepal which offer excellent rafting or canoeing.
You can glide on calm jade water with a magnificence of
scenery all about or rush through roaring rapids, in the
care of expert rivermen. There are clear sandy beaches to
camp or take a meal, and cool, clear pools to bathe.
Rivers are graded on a scale of one ( swimming pool) to
six (apocalypse).Take your pick.
The Trishuli River (Grade 3+):is close
to Kathmandu and is favourite of Nepal's raftable rivers.
You can raft down all the way to the Royal Chitwan National
Park or you can do this trip half of the way to Pokhara
visit.
The Kali Gandaki ( Grade 4+4): near Pokhara
winds through remote canyons and deep gorges for five days
of intense rapids.
The Marshyangdi (Grade 4-5): near Pokhara rages
through the gorges of the Annapurna range and packs boiling
foam and awesome whirlpools.
The Bhote Koshi (Grade 4-5): is three-hours
from Kathmandu and batters river runners with continuous
white water as they shoot through a veritable maze of canyons
and boulders.
The Sun Koshi (Grade 4-5): is only three
hours from Kathmandu and thus a popular choice with many.
It requires eight to ten days to complete and offers exhilarating
white water.
The Karnali (Grade 4-5): is far west Nepal
and is longest and largest river of Nepal offers some of
the most challenging rapids in the world.
